An exergy analysis of tubular solar-thermal receivers with different working fluids
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tubular solar thermal receivers suitable for central towers are modelled using energy and exergy analysis, in a way that allows individual inspection of the the irreversibilities associated with the various receiver heat transfer processes occurring. The model was used to compare the behaviour of four working fluids: molten salt (NaNO3/KNO3), liquid sodium metal, supercritical carbon dioxide, and ideal air. In the working fluid temperature range 300–550 °C, the model showed sodium and molten salt to be the best performers. At elevated temperature ranges, sodium and carbon dioxide become the preferred candidates. The biggest differences in exergy terms between the alternative fluids are in exergy loss by thermal emission, and in the exergy destruction associated with internal convection losses and wall conduction. © 2015 The Authors. Exergetic Analysis of a Steam-flashing Thermal Storage System
Thermal energy storage is attractive in the design of concentrator solar thermal systems because of its ability to increase turbine capacity factor and to facilitate dispatchable, if not continuous, power output from a solar field. At the right cost, a storage system can improve overall economics of a solar energy system. Presented here is a simulation study of the performance of a cycle that u...

This study presents a theoretical analysis of a new combined cooling, heating, and power cycle by the novel integration of an organic Rankine cycle (ORC), an ejector refrigeration cycle (ERC), and a heat pump cycle (HPC) for producing cooling output, heating output, and power output simultaneously. Three different working fluids—namely R113, isobutane, and R141b—have been used in power, ref...

متن کاملCompare three different algorithms (MOPSO, SPEA2, NSGA-II) for Multi Objective Optimization of a novel Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power (CCHP) system based on organic Rankine cycle
Recently Debates about Energy and the issue of global warming have led to the use of new energy. One of the best options for this purpose is the use of a new hybrid system of power, heating and refrigeration, with its thermal source of solar and geothermal energy. In the present study, used a combined cooling, heating and power system based on the organic Rankine cycle and the Ejector Refrigera...
متن کاملThermodynamic Analysis of New Cogeneration Cycle Based on Gaynarje Hotspring
Gaynarje spring is one of the hottest springs in the world and is located around Meshginshahr in northwestern Iran. Because of the water with a temperature of 82 ºC, it is not appropriate to use this mineral water for swimming and bathing. In this study, in addition to lowering the water temperature to the appropriate swimming temperature (29 ºC), the hot water is used for power and natural gas...
